100 Miles
Starting from Bolton Wanderers stadium, the route takes participants towards Rivington before heading through Clitheroe and making their way to the Trough of Bowland. From there, riders will return to Ribchester and join the 60-mile riders, completing the final leg of the route back to the Bolton Wanderers stadium.
Completing a century ride (100 miles) is indeed a significant accomplishment, requiring substantial fitness, endurance, and preparation. The rolling hills, with Birdie Brow being the prominent challenge, add to the difficulty of the route.
For those who have previously completed The Big Lancashire Sportive, 60-mile route and are seeking a greater challenge, taking on the century ride could be a natural progression. It allows participants to test their limits, push themselves further, and experience the satisfaction of completing a demanding distance.
Regardless of the chosen route, all participants can look forward to a fantastic day out. You will have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scenery, experience the joy of cycling, whilst raising money for Bolton Wanderers in the Community.
Please ensure you select the route that is suitable for your fitness and goals, ensuring a safe day in the saddle.
The GPX for the route is available and it is advisable to have a look at the elevation prior to booking on.
There will be feed stations on each route (at least 2 for the 60 and 3 for the 100) and all riders will be rewarded with a medal and a snack at the finish line.
Get involved today and ride for a purpose!
So what is a Sportive?
Many people misinterpret what a sportive is. Sportives are personal challenge rides allowing you to test your legs without the hassle of having to plan a route yourself. Routes usually range from 20 to 100+ miles, with events running more or less every weekend up and down the country.

GPX files are files that contain track, waypoint and route data that you can add to your cycling computer to direct you along a pre-planned route. This is achieved by marking a line on the map on your device that you should follow. Some cycle computers also offer turn by turn information. Download the file that’s best for your device below.
